Created, tested and photographed at Smashbox Studios L.A.

Smashbox Foundation Primer
Smashbox Photo Finish
You know that feeling, having your make-up quite pretty to go to a party. Foundation perfectly tuned on your skin, perfectly finished some powder. And at home, returned from the party looking in the mirror at a red, smudges foundation all over your skin and sweated little face. Not even speaking of the ‘glowing headed’ party pics that are waiting for you. There seems to be a primer/3 steps system that helps your foundation looking nice and matte on your face whole day. This is the primers/foundations of Smashbox. Smashbox says to live for lipstick and adoring primers. But above all, they want to share all their make-up secrets with you. Why? Because they are the only beauty brand that is born in a real photo studio; the legendary Smashbox Studio in Los Angeles. Smashbox understands that life is most of the time exacting and hectic, just like a photo shoot. That is way they developed a make-up which everybody feels fabulous with, as well as on the street as in the studio.

The history of Smashbox

The Smashbox Studios are established in 1990 by Dean and Davis Factor, the great-grandsons of the Hollywood make-up legend Max Factor. From the first day they shoot iconic photos for great magazines, music labels and fashion brands. In 1996 Smashbox Cosmatics is established, which aims at the durable products that are developed to get a perfect look fitting with Hollywood stars – Drew Barrymore and Charlize Theron are examples of big names that are fan of this brand. Smashbox is part of a broader empire of Factor brothers that next to a photo studio and Smashbox Cosmetics also contains a model agency and clothing line. Information that is not found on their website, but after performing a little research, is the fact that Smashbox Cosmetics is sold to Estee Lauder in 2010. Still the brothers are the head of Smashbox.

Application of Smashbox

Smashbox has developed a 3-step plan with a Primer, Foundation and beautiful Halo powder. With this combination not only your make-up stays perfect, but it also gets superbly matte. In this post I will give a short review about one of these products that is about the first step; the primer! One of the best selling products and not without a reason. When applying the primer you immediately feel how soft the texture of the primer is. Your skin gets as soft as silk and all the unevenness on your skin get some kind of filled by the primer. With this you create a perfect smooth canvas for applying your foundation. What also is pleasant about this primer, it is matte of texture. No greasy layer where the foundation is supposed to be applied on which results in one shiny mess. But my T-zone remainded, according to my standards, pretty matte. I still used my reliable Dior foundation and Ben Nye powder. So I am very curious about the result if I am using the full 3-steps application. To be continued…..
